CATCH PE and What Universities are Doing

Physical Education Teacher Prep programs around the country arguably can set the stage for the future health of our children. As future teachers and models of healthy lifestyles, teacher prep students, particularly those in elementary teaching, can instill a value for health, enjoyment of exercise, and love of movement in their students. See how Ben Avalos uses the CATCH Physical Education Program with his University of Texas El Paso Teacher Prep students to deliver a program that stresses everybody moving, everybody learning, and everybody having fun.

Ben has taught physical education to elementary students for over 24 years in El Paso . He has been a big supporter of CATCH since its introduction and currently teaches at Glen Cove Elementary in the Ysleta School District . Ben has been an instructor at UTEP for 7 years and has been teaching future physical education instructors about Coordinated School Health as well as CATCH.
