CATCH Training Showcase Objectives:
As a result of attending this Training Showcase, participants will be able to:
• Justify the need for health programs in school/afterschool/summer/recreation settings.
• Articulate the history, value and utility of the CATCH and CATCH Kids Club Programs.
• Demonstrate instructional strategies for instructing within component specific areas of expertise.
• Identify actions and policies that lead to successful implementation.
• Begin the process of implementing CATCH at your school/campus/afterschool/recreation program.
• How to support CATCH in your community.
Learn new games and strategies for increasing physical activity and healthy eating.
Who Should Attend (Schools and After-School Organizations)
From schools: Physical Education Instructors, classroom teachers, Food Service Managers, School Nurses and Administrators and Counselors. We also encourage health department personnel and community representatives to attend. Other team members are strongly encouraged, such as administrators, parents, school nurse, counselor, additional grade level teachers, community representatives (e.g., local health department personnel, health association representatives, etc.).
From after-school organizations:
Health Fitness Directors, Child Care Directors, Multi-Site Coordinators and Part Time Child Care Workers. We also encourage
Recreation Center Directors, Recreational Leaders and Part Time Recreational Staff to attend.
